WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson baseball team dropped a 5-0 decision against No. 2 Frostburg State at Ross Memorial Park.
The Presidents fall to 22-13 overall this season while the Bobcats improve to 33-3.
A pair of two-run home runs provided the bulk of the offense for the visitors, one in the first and one in the fourth. The guests tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth.
Anthony Paladino went 2-for-4 on the day, while
Kyle Smith,
Derek Helbing and
Michael Ruffing each tallied base knocks.
Nick Kolat (3-3) took the loss, working 6.0 innings and giving up seven hits and four earned runs while striking out one and walking a pair.
Joe Vita pitched 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, surrendering just one hit and striking out one, while
Tim Mulvey allowed a run on two hits in the ninth inning.
Greg Schneider (6-1), a Pitt transfer, earned the win for Frostburg State after going 8.0 innings and giving up five hits and striking out 10.
W&J will travel to Muskingum for the final nonconference game of the regular season. First pitch in New Concord, Ohio, is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.
