WASHINGTON, Pa. – After an intense defensive battle, Washington & Jefferson's women's soccer team fell to Wooster, 1-0, at Alexandre Stadium.
W&J spent the majority of time on the attack, taking 12 corner kicks to Wooster's four. Although the Presidents tried to capitalize, with Tatiana Ruzzini leading the team with four shots, three of them on goal, and Josie Madden having both of her shots land on goal, nothing snuck past Wooster's keeper, Carly Eppler.
On the defensive end, W&J only allowed five shots total. Allison Rinehimer made three saves in the total 90 minutes. The only goal of the game came when Carly Joliat of Wooster took a corner kick at 43:12 and it curved in, unassisted.
The loss brings the women's soccer record to 3-1-1, while Wooster improves 5-1-1.
The Presidents will face Penn State Behrend next, on Sept. 19 at 2:00 pm at Alexandre Stadium.
