WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson women's soccer achieved a 2-0 shutout against Penn State Behrend at Alexandre Stadium.
In a game that was scoreless at the end of the first half, the Presidents scored twice in the second, allowing them to take the lead and hold onto it.
At 54:33 in the second half,
Jordan Toohey was able to break the scoreless tie when she was first on the board with an unassisted goal taken from about 10 yards out on the right side of the field.
Toohey followed this by assisting on the second goal of the game, a quick short shot from
Hayley Skovira at 75:50 to put the Presidents up 2-0.
Washington & Jefferson totaled nine shots, seven on goal, to Penn State Behrend's seven.
Maddie Potter made three saves, in her third shutout, to pick up her third win as a President.
The win puts the W&J record to 4-1-1, while Penn State Behrend drops to 3-4.
Women's soccer will go on the road to face Marietta in Marietta, Ohio on Sept. 22 at 4:00 pm.
