Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rinehimer, Presidents earn 8-0 shutout at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio – In a game that resulted in an 8-0 shutout win on the road against Marietta, Washington & Jefferson took 27 shots and allowed only one shot on goal.

Jordan Toohey led the Presidents on the offensive with six total shots, three of them resulting in goals. The three goals came in a row during the first half to give Toohey her second hat trick of the season and boost her to ten goals so far.

To wrap-up the first half, Ashton Grimm had an unassisted goal shot from the top of the box at 24:11, putting the Presidents up 4-0.

Lauren Virgin opened up the second half of the game with her first goal of the season at 54:09. Soon after, at 61:55, Josie Madden posted her first goal on the season as well, lofting the ball over the Marietta keeper's head from 40 yards out.

The final two goals of the game happened within 47 seconds of each other. The first, a goal by Julie Halula, was scored at 70:48 and shot into the upper left corner of the net, tallying her first career goal. Then, at 71:35, Molly Peddicord scored the final goal of the game, assisted by a cross from Tatiana Ruzzini, who finished with three assists.

With Allison Rinehimer as keeper, the Presidents allowed only one shot on goal, awarding Rinehimer her first career shutout. The win puts their record up to 5-1-1.

Washington & Jefferson's women's soccer will come back home to face off against Penn State Altoona on Sept. 30 at 7:00 pm.
