BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of league-leader Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
The defeat, by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-21, drops W&J to 14-7 overall and 8-5 in the PAC, while the Golden Tornadoes are 17-6 on the year and 11-1 in the league.
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) tied for the match high with 12 kills, her 12th career double-digit kill match.
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) tallied 16 assists to lead the offense and also recorded all three of W&J's service aces.
Defensively,
Allison Means (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area) had a match-best 27 digs, with
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) collecting 22 digs.
W&J will host a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 15 when it plays Thiel (11 a.m.) and Oberlin (3 p.m.). The Thiel match will be league play and the Presidents will honor their five seniors beforehand.
