WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team fell to Bethany, 3-2, in overtime to fall to 4-6-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15.
Justin Carter (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) put W&J ahead in the 12th minute when he redirected a shot by
Jason Menni (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) inside the left post after Menni fired his shot from about 15 yards out. Seven minutes later, Justin Nofli (Irwin, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) extended the lead to 2-0 when he found some space in the middle of the field, about 22 yards out, and fired a shot to the top left corner of the goal.
The Bison got on the board in the 40th minute, thanks to Daniel Booth, but the Presidents still led 2-1 at the break.
With 2:11 remaining in the game, Babocour Sallah-Mohammed tied the game after dribbling around a defender in the box and finishing to the center of the net from about 12 yards.
24 seconds into the overtime period, Jose Arzate finished a cross from Jay O'Donnell just inside the right post for the win.
Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) (2-3-2) took the loss in net for the Presidents and made six saves while Callum Appleby (6-6-2) got the win for the Bison with five saves.
As a team, the Presidents got off 13 shots, seven on goal.
The Presidents return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 18, when they host PAC foe Thiel at 5 p.m.
