Men's Water Polo

Presidents finish regular season with four-game split in home tournament

Opponent: Monmouth (Ill.)
Result: W, 18-10
 
How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team opened the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-West Region Round Robin with an 18-10 win over Monmouth College. 
 
Top Performers: Nicholas Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) led the Presidents' offense with four goals in the game while Patrick Fredrick (Saratoga, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep) and Owen Hanna each scored three times.
 
The Rest: Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Nicholas Spehar (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and Dylan Gwinn (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) all scored twice while Joshua Emde (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) and Troy Smith (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos) both scored twice to round out the scoring. Mac Hennessy (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) played the first and third quarters in goal for the Presidents and made nine saves while Zach Bacchus (Ocoee, Fla./West Orange) played the second and fourth quarters and made seven saves.

Result: W, 21-8
 
How it Happened: Men's Water Polo won its Senior Day game by a score of 21-8 over Penn State-Behrend to close its first day of weekend action. 
 
Top Performers: Fredrick led the Presidents' offense with five goals, including three in the second quarter, while Smith and Willison both recorded four goals. 
 
The Rest: Chonghwi Yoon (Seoul, South Korea/Pennington School (N.J.)) and Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) both scored two goals while Jack King (Atlanta, Ga./Marist School), Spehar, Gwinn and Emde all scored once. Hennessy played the first and third quarters in goal for the Presidents and made four saves while Bacchus played the second and fourth quarters and made six saves.

Result: L, 7-8
 
How it Happened: Men's Water Polo lost its first game of the weekend to Mercyhurst, 8-7, on the second day of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-West Region Round Robin.
 
Top Performers: Willison scored twice to lead the Presidents' offense. 
 
The Rest: Smith, Hanna, Geister, Spehar and Gwinn all scored once to round out the Presidents' scoring in the game. Hennessy played all game in goal for the Presidents and made 10 saves.

Opponent: Gannon
Result: L, 9-11
 
How it Happened: Men's Water Polo concluded its regular season with an 11-9 loss in the final game of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-West Region Round Robin.
 
Top Performers: Willison and Hanna led the Presidents' offense as they both scored three goals.
 
The Rest: Smith, Spehar and Fredrick combined to score the other three Presidents' goals.

What's Next: The Presidents will compete in the College Water Polo Association Division III Eastern Championships in Erie, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 23.
