WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team defeated Thiel, 8-0, on Tuesday night, Oct. 18, to extend its winning streak to five and improve to 11-3-2 overall and 5-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Jordan Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant/Saint Francis (Pa.)) led the offense with six points (two goals, two assists) and became just the fourth player in W&J Women's Soccer history to surpass the 100-career point milestone (102 points).
After the game yielded no goals through the first 30 minutes,
Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) tapped in a loose ball after players from both teams were scrambling to gain possession.
Just under five minutes later,
Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) received a pass from Grimm and got off a shot as she was falling to her left and was able to put the ball just over the outstretched arm of the Tomcat keeper.
In the 43rd minute,
Brianna Floryshak (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) volleyed a Tomcat punt upfield towards Toohey. After beating her defender to the right, Toohey scored to the top left corner of the goal to give the Presidents a 3-0 halftime lead.
Toohey tallied her sixth multi-goal game of the season in the 51st minute when she dribbled up the right side of the field and put another shot to the top left corner of the goal.
25 seconds later,
Sam Fields (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) was able to get a shot off a rebounded save following a shot from Ruzzini.
In the 56th minute, Floryshak scored to extend the lead to 6-0 when she headed in a corner kick cross from
Chandler Marteeny (Somerset, Pa./Somerset).

In the 62nd minute, Ruzzini got on the board again for her fourth multi-goal game of the season when she got a short cross from Fields deep in the goal box and finished inside the right post.
Julie Halula (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) rounded out the scoring in the game with a goal in the 89th minute when she received a cross from Toohey and scored to the center of the net off the keeper's hands.
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (9-3-2) got the win in net for the Presidents as she and
Beth Boyles (Dundee, Ohio/Hiland) combined for the third consecutive team shutout. Rinehimer played the first half and made one save while Boyles played the second half. Kim Gentry (2-12-1) took the loss in net for the Tomcats as she made eight saves in 55:25 of action while Chimamaka Palmer finished the game.

The Presidents defense allowed just one shot in the game as the Tomcats were able to put that shot on goal, the third consecutive game the Presidents allowed less than four total shots and less than two shots on goal.

Offensively, the Presidents were able to get off 24 shots and put 16 on goal.

The Presidents return to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 23, when they travel to Saint Vincent in a 1 p.m. PAC clash.
