Presidents win fifth straight with 3-1 win at Chatham

PITTSBURGH -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team defeated Chatham, 3-1, on Saturday, Oct. 22, as the final set scores totaled 25-12, 25-15, 16-25, 25-21.

The win improved the Presidents to 19-7 overall and 11-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference while also tying their longest winning streak of the season (five games).

Taylor Freeman (Cresson, Pa./Penn Cambria) led the way on offense with nine kills while Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) finished with eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage (zero errors). Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded 19 assists while Emily Toy (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) finished with 16.

Sarah Dindak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and Allison Means (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville Area), along with Freeman and Toy, all recorded double-digit digs with Freeman leading the team with 19. 

As a team, the Presidents held a 42-35 edge in kills and finished the match with a .218 hitting percentage.

The Presidents will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 25, when they travel to Westminster at 7 p.m. in PAC action.
