Presidents rebound with 5-1 win at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team defeated Saint Vincent, 5-1, on Sunday, Oct. 23.
 
The win improved the Presidents' to 5-7-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
 
After giving up a goal in the fourth minute, it took Justin Nolfi (Irwin, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) just 31 seconds to tie the game. In the 28th minute, Garrett French (Palm, Pa./Homeschooled) scored to give the Presidents the lead following a Jason Menni (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) throw-in. Just under three minutes later, Nolfi scored again, his fourth goal of the season, on another assist from Menni.
 
In the 44th minute, Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) sent a corner kick into the box and found Noah Friday (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) for his first collegiate goal as the Presidents took a 4-1 lead into halftime.
 
Justin Carter (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) rounded out the scoring in the game in the 76th minute on another Prezioso assist, his third goal of the season.
 
Jeremy Stone (Hope Mills, N.C./Fayetteville Academy) (3-3) earned the win in goal for the Presidents, making five saves in 60:44 of action, while Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished the game and made one save. Nick Bohn (2-13) took the loss for the Bearcats and made six saves.
 
As a team, the Presidents outshot the Bearcats 18-10 in the game, including 15-6 in the first half, and also held an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal.
 
The Presidents return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when they travel to Westminster at 7:30 p.m. in PAC action.
