Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

W&J jumps on Westminster early in 5-0 PAC victory

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson opened the scoring 1:38 into play as the Presidents topped Westminster 5-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action. 

The victory slides the W&J men's soccer team to 6-7-2 overall this season, while also holding a 2-4-1 mark in league play.

Justin Nolfi (Irwin, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) scored the first two goals of the game within the opening 16 minutes. He connected after gathering a rebound of a shot from Junior Mensah (Chantilly, Va./Broad Run) in the second minute, and then extended his team lead to six goals on the year at the 15:30-mark by tapping in his second score off a double assist by Paul Mokrzan (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) and Jason Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park).

In the 38th minute, Christian Payne (South Park, Pa./South Park) made it 3-0 from the top of the box with the helper going to Matt Kotkiewicz (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park). The score stood up at intermission with the Presidents leading.

Mokrzan scored his first goal of the season in the 61st minute to the top left corner off a Nolfi assist to extend the Presidents' lead to 4-0. Scott Hanna (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) capped the scoring with an unassisted goal at 85:23 to give W&J the 5-0 final margin.

The Presidents held a 17-9 advantage on shots, with Nolfi posting a game-high five and Hanna adding three. Both Payne and Yobbi notched a pair of shots.

Jeremy Stone (Hope Mills, N.C./Fayetteville Academy) posted his second career shutout by after making a career-high eight saves.

W&J will close out the 2016 campaign with a 3 p.m. Senior Day kickoff against Thomas More.
