Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Presidents' stellar play continues with 2-0 win at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team defeated Westminster, 2-0, on Tuesday night, Oct. 25.
 
The win extended the Presidents' winning streak to seven games and improved the team's overall record to 13-3-2 as well as improved their record in the Presidents' Athletic Conference to 7-1.
 
Jordan Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant/Saint Francis (Pa.)) gave the Presidents an early 1-0 lead with her 20th goal of the season coming off an assist from Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) in the seventh minute. In the 25th minute, Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) extended the lead off an assist from Toohey as the Presidents took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
 
Ruzzini's goal was her 16th of the season and she now has at least one goal in six of the last seven games and at least one point in seven of the last eight games while Toohey has now scored in five of the last six games.
 
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (11-3-2) was credited with the win and made two saves to record her third shutout of the season and the fourth team shutout in the last five games. Ashley Smialek (7-7-2) took the loss in net for the Titans and made seven saves.
 
As a team, the Presidents outshot the Titans 16-5 and also held a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.
 
The Presidents return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 29, for their regular season finale against Thomas More in a 1 p.m. PAC battle with Senior Day celebrations taking place pregame.
