Presidents fall, 1-0, to Thomas More on Senior Day

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team was defeated, 1-0, by Thomas More on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29.

The loss snapped a season-long seven-game winning streak as the Presidents finished the regular season with a 13-4-2 overall record with a 7-2 record in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

The Saints went ahead on the game's lone goal in the 30th minute when Laura Felix scored on a penalty kick opportunity following a Presidents foul in the goal box.

Both teams battled hard all game long but the Presidents were unable to find the back of the net. Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) recorded the only shot on goal for the Presidents in the 79th minute while Josie Madden (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and Katie McClelland (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) both recorded a shot for the offense.

Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (11-4-2) took the loss in net for the Presidents and made five saves while Megan Barton (18-0-1) got the win and made one save for the Saints.

Despite the loss, the Presidents clinched the second-seed for the PAC Tournament after Grove City defeated Chatham, 3-2, in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Presidents will host Grove City in the PAC Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m.
