How it Happened: The Presidents opened up the 2016-17 wrestling season by traveling to NCAA Division II West Liberty for a 7 p.m. dual match that saw W&J take two weight classes in the 42-7 loss.

Top Performers: Sam Florentino (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) earned the first points of the day for the Presidents at 157 pounds. The junior secured a 3-2 decision after claiming the riding time point at the conclusion of the third period. Sonnieboy Blanco (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City), a 2016 NCAA Division III All-American, then claimed a major decision at 174 pounds by a score of 18-8.

The Rest: Michael Heinl (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) suffered a 9-5 setback at 141 pounds in his collegiate debut, while Dan Pommerer (Downington, Pa./Downington West) followed with a 6-4 defeat at 149 pounds.

What's Next: The Presidents will return to the mat on Saturday, Nov. 12, hosting the annual W&J Invitational in the Henry Memorial Gymnasium. Action is set to get underway around 9:45 a.m.
