Women's Basketball rallies past Saint Vincent, 64-60

LATROBE, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson took the lead with 5:53 to play and never relinquished it in a 64-60 win at Saint Vincent in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

The Presidents improve to 4-1 this season and 2-0 in the PAC, while the Bearcats are now 3-3 overall and 1-1 within the conference.

Trailing by four, 52-48, with under seven minutes to play, W&J used a 14-1 run to help put the game away. Rachel Bellhy (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) made a pair of free throws at 6:36 to bring the Presidents within two, 52-50, before Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) knotted the game with a layup at 6:07.

After a missed three-pointer by SVC, Amirah Moore (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) scored on a layup to give W&J a 54-52 lead. A jumper by Parker made it a four-point game at 5:23, but would mark the only points until a Bearcats' free throw at 3:09 brought the margin to 56-53. Bellhy and Parker hit on back-to-back possessions as W&J built the lead to 60-53 with just over two minutes to play and then a pair of free throws by Danni Medovich (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) took the lead to nine with under a minute.

Parker scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-13 from the field, and also grabbed five boards and turned away four blocked shots.  Moore added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Taylor Cortazzo and Bellhy contributed nine and eight points, respectively, with Bellhy pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.

The Presidents will step out of PAC play for a nonconference home game against No. 15 Carnegie Mellon at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
