WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Thomas More had the hot hand on the afternoon, using 16 three-pointers to dispatch the Washington & Jefferson men's basketball team, 96-63, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match-up.
Brian Graytok and
Brian Lindquist combined for 37 points, with Graytok also turning in his third career double-double by grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. It took Graytok a while to get going offensively, as all 20 of his points came in the final 21:28, including 18 in the second half on eight-of-nine from the field and 9-of-14 for the game. Lindquist added 17 points (7-of-13) of his own and blocked a game-high three shots.
Joel Garcia had the hot hand early from beyond-the-arc for the Presidents, knocking down a trio of triples within the game's first 12 minutes to finish with nine points and team bests of three assists and three steals.
Gianni Buarne also chipped in nine points to go along with two assists and two steals, while
Adam Joyce accounted for eight points and a pair of three-pointers.
A pair of free throws by Joyce at the 6:55-mark of the first half made it a 25-23 game in favor of the Saints, but the visitors used an 18-4 run to close out the half and pull away with a 43-27 halftime lead en route to the league victory.
As a team, W&J converted 45.3 percent (24-of-53) from the field and was a perfect eight-of-eight at the free-throw line.
The Presidents will close out the home portion of the 2015-16 schedule with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Westminster on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
