YORK, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team kicked off its 2016 campaign with a 20-1 setback at York (Pa.).

The loss means the Presidents open the season 0-1, snapping a three-year winning streak in season openers. The Spartans improve to 2-0 with the victory.

Kyle Heinig got W&J on the board in the third quarter with an unassisted tally. Heinig finished second on the team with four shots, as
Zach Fredericks notched a team-best five shots.
Bryan Whipkey added three in the loss.

Ryan Quan finished 7-of-19 in faceoffs, tying Whipkey for the team lead with four ground balls.

Jacob Succop played all 60 minutes in goal for W&J, making 18 saves in the process.

The Presidents will travel to La Roche for another nonconference meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Faceoff against the Redhawks is set for 4 p.m.
