CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Washington & Jefferson fell to Thomas More in a conference doubleheader on the road. After the Presidents were topped, 5-1, they then suffered a 6-2 loss.

In the first game of the day, W&J took the lead when
Abby Cunningham hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring
Rachel Marx home to score in the top of the first inning. The Presidents were unable to maintain the momentum as the Saints answered in the bottom of the first and then notched a run in the third, two in the fourth and another in the fifth inning.

On offense, Marx,
Morgan Figura and
Meghan Staab each had hits.

Krista McCartney was in the circle, allowing only three walks while throwing a strikeout.

For the second game, Thomas More gained an early lead with a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. It was
Ally Doty who was batted in with a single by Figura in the top of the third to move the score to 3-1. The Saints were able to register two more runs in the bottom of the third, advancing the margin. The Presidents tallied another when
Taylor Andres scored after an at bat by Staab in the top of the fourth, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More finished the game with a final run in the bottom of the sixth.
Doty led on the offensive in the second game, recording three hits, while Figura, Cunningham, Watson and Andres each had one.Â

Andres pitched for the entirety of the second game, sacrificing no walks in 26 at bats.

The losses move the Presidents' record to 12-16 overall with an 8-6 record in the conference.

W&J will host Muskingum next in a nonconference doubleheader on April 26 set to begin at 3:30 pm.Â
