Bulger nets 100th career goal as W&J rolls past Thiel, 14-3

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Ashley Bulger scored seven times to reach 100 goals for her career, as the Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team dispatched Thiel, 14-3.

The Presidents improve to 6-4 on the season after running their winning streak to five matches, while also remaining unblemished in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference action at 3-0. Thiel, who had won five of the first six meetings between the two teams, drops to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the ORLC.

It was Bulger's seventh and final goal of the game, at the 11:39 mark of the second half, that was goal number 100. The tally was her 36th of the season and was assisted by Monica Ewansik.

Bulger scored the first two goals of the game, 51 seconds apart, within the first 3:07 as part of W&J's 4-0 opening of the game. After Thiel scored two of the next three goals to make it a 5-2 game, Ewansik and Bulget found the back of the net to push the Presidents ahead by a 7-2 lead at halftime.

Caroline Kallos opened the second-half scoring 24 seconds into the period, and Bulger added another just 32 seconds later and the Presidents quickly led 9-2.

After Thiel's final goal of the game, at 25:30, Bulger (twice), Kallos (twice) and Ewansik (one) allowed the Presidents to close the game with five-straight goals, 14-3.

Both Ewansik (two goals, four assists) and Kallos (four goals, two assists) finished a point behind Bulger on the night at six apiece. Kallos also filled the stat sheet with eight ground balls, six draw controls and five caused turnovers.

Diana Harvey added four draw controls and three ground balls, while Lauren Brown controlled three draws. Katelynn Linthicum and Desiree Goldstrohm both picked up four ground balls and caused a turnover.

Michaela Mulokey improved to 5-1 in goal, making seven saves and surrendering just three goals.
