WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team came away with a 2-2 draw at Wooster on Saturday, Sept. 10, in its first away game of the season.
Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) opened the game with her second goal of the season in the 18th minute, one timing a pass from
Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) from the left side.
Just under three minutes later, Wooster's Harper Jones equalized on a shot from outside the 18-yard box off a pass from Claire Davis.
The Presidents responded in the 44th minute when Ruzzini scored her second goal of the season off an assist from
Courtney Finney (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), Finney's first helper and point of the season.
In the 72nd minute Wooster's Erica White tied the game again, the game's final goal.
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Â Pa./Berwick Area) (2-1-1) took the draw in net for the Presidents, making seven saves in 110 minutes. Carly Eppler (1-2-1) also played all game for the Fighting Scots, making five saves to earn the draw.
The Fighting Scots held a slight 14-13 edge in total shots for the game, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal, while the Presidents got six corner kick opportunities to two from the Fighting Scots. Grimm and Ruzzini led the attack for the Presidents as Ruzzini got off four shots, two on goal, and Grimm got off three shots, two on goal.
The Presidents return to the pitch tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a 1:30 p.m. start.
