WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team fell to Frostburg State, 6-1, at home on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 17.
After surrendering a Bobcat goal in the 13th minute, the Presidents drew a foul inside the box and were awarded a penalty kick.
Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) took the penalty kick for the Presidents and fired a shot just inside the right post, low to the ground, to tie the game.Â
After the Bobcats regained the lead in the 57th minute, they went on to score four additional goals from the 67th minute to the 87th minute to finish off the Presidents.
Jason Menni (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) and
Justin Carter (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) led the Presidents' offense as they both got off two shots, including one each on goal.
Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) (2-2-1) took the loss for the Presidents, making two saves in 74:26.
Jeremy Stone (Hope Mills, N.C./Fayetteville Academy) played the rest of the game for the Presidents. Hassan Mostafa (3-4) got the win for the Bobcats, making three saves.
The Presidents return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they host Franciscan in a 5 p.m. nonconference matchup.
