NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team defeated Muskingum, 3-2, in overtime on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was able to clinch the game for the Presidents in the 98th minute of the game when he took a shot off a deflected ball in the box. The goal was Prezioso's second of the season.
The Presidents got on the board first in the game when
Kyle Wisniewski (Green Bay, Wisc./South West) was able to head in a pair of corner kick crosses in the 23rd and 25th minutes from
Jason Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) for his first two goals of the season.
The Muskies got on the board in the 34th minute thanks to a goal from Gage Toy followed by a goal from Trent Newby in the 86th minute to tie the game and force overtime.
Jeremy Stone (Hope Mills, N.C./Fayetteville Academy) (2-0) earned the win in net for the Presidents as he made four saves in 97:08 of action. Gabriel Kral (0-2-1) took the loss for the Muskies, making 11 saves in 97:08.
As a team, the Presidents held a 29-18 advantage in shots, including a 14-6 edge in shots on goal, and outshot the Muskies 5-0 in overtime.
The Presidents return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Grove City to open conference-play at 4 p.m.
