Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Grimm records three points, Presidents beat Bobcats 4-0

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Junior Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) scored a goal and assisted on another as the Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season by defeating Pitt-Greensburg, 4-0, on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Alexandre Stadium.

Grimm opened the scoring for the game in the 24th minute after gathering a loose ball following multiple deflections off a corner kick and drove it through the center of the net past the keeper for her first goal of the season.
Just over seven minutes later, sophomore Nicole Walters (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) stepped up for a free kick from no less than 25 yards out. Walters sent the ball over the wall of defenders, over the reach of the keeper and to the top left corner of the net, her first score of the season as well.
In the 67th minute, junior Jordan Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant/Saint Francis (Pa.)) got on the board with her fourth goal of the season after collecting a loose ball inside the box. Toohey controlled the ball, turned 180-degrees to her left and fired a shot just inside the right post to give the Presidents a 3-0 lead.
Later in the half, Grimm was dribbling the ball down the right sideline and, after running past a Bobcat defender in the box, found sophomore Sam Fields (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) in the middle of the box who fired a one-timer to the top right corner of the goal to yield the final margin. The goal was Fields' second of the season.
Junior Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (2-0) earned the win for the Presidents, making one save in 63:12 of action. Freshman Beth Boyles (Dundee, Ohio/Hiland) came on to finish the game in net for the Presidents and recorded one save. Kaitlyn Watson (0-1) took the loss for the Bobcats, making seven saves in the first half. Shannon Edwards played the second half for the Bobcats and made three saves.

The Presidents were relentless in the first half as they got off 15 shots, compared to just one from the Bobcats, and ended the game holding a 21-2 advantage in total shots, including a 14-2 edge in shots on goal.

W&J returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when they host Frostburg State for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup at Alexandre Stadium.
