WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson led by nine points at halftime, but cooled off from the field in the second half in a 68-61 loss to Grove City.
Sean Stinelli (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) scored a career high for the second-straight game, pouring in 27 points behind 6-of-10 from three-point range and 9-of-16 overall from the field. The freshman was 6-of-8 from the floor in the first half, including sinking five of his six triple tries. He also beat the buzzer from beyond-the-arc at the end of the first half to send the Presidents into the locker room with a 35-26 lead.
Mike Zappala (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and
Brian Graytok (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) joined Stinelli in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The two were also the leading rebounders for W&J on the afternoon with eight and six, apiece.
Jonathan DeVito (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) dished out a game- and season-high seven assists.
The Presidents made 10 three-pointers in the game, the fifth time they've done that this season and fourth in the last five games.
W&J will head to Westminster for Presidents' Athletic Conference action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
