PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Washington & Jefferson field hockey team clinched hosting rights for the upcoming Empire 8 Tournament as they used a two-goal second half comeback to overtake St. John Fisher, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The win improves the Presidents to 10-3 overall and an undefeated 6-0 in the Empire 8, while St. John Fisher falls to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in conference. The E8 tournament will take place at Cameron Stadium in Washington, Pa., on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 3-4, with the league's top four teams meeting in Pennsylvania.

Ashley Overton (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) evened the score with an unassisted goal in the 41st minute. The game-winning goal then came in the 60th minute from
Rachel Fromm (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) as she and
Jenna Jaworski (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) teamed up on a corner for the tally.

Karlie Baran (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) started in the cage and made three saves in her 10th win of the season.
Jaworksi led the team with two shots, one on goal, and an assist, followed by
Rachel Buyan (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison),
Alana Boyd (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison), Fromm and Overton with one shot apiece.

The Presidents return to the field as they travel to Juniata on Oct. 25th at 7:00 p.m. for their final nonconference game of the 2017 regular season.
