WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Grove City in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Friday, Oct. 6.

The Presidents now sit with an overall record of 5-5-1 with a 0-2 mark in the PAC as the Wolverines improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The lone goal of the game came in the 29th minute following a Grove City corner. After
Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) batted away an opposing header chance, Lindsay Hutton of Grove City gathered the loose ball inside the six-yard box and tapped it to the right the diving Rinehimer.

W&J's best scoring chance came midway through the second half when
Alexa Smith (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) found some space in the Grove City defense and fired a shot from 20 yards out. Her shot ended up in the top, center section of the goal but was knocked over the goal by the leaping keeper.

Josie Madden (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) led the Presidents' attack with four total shots and put one on goal.
Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) followed with three shots as
Nicole Walters (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley),
Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) and
Brianna Floryshak (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) all tallied two shots.

Rinehimer was able to come up with six saves in the match, her fifth contest of the season with at least four saves.

W&J held a 16-8 shot advantage over Grove City, including 8-3 in the second half, but was edged out by the Wolverines in shots on goal, 7-5.

The Presidents will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 11, when they host Chatham in PAC action under the lights of Alexandre Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
