STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team used a season-high .255 hitting percentage to sweep Franciscan (25-16, 25-19, 25-22) on the road on Saturday, Oct. 7, in nonconference action.

The Presidents' win moves them to 8-8 overall on the season as the Barons fall to 4-13.

Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) led the way with 11 kills in the match, the 10th time she has recorded double-digit kills and fourth consecutive occasion. Lydic finished with a .400 hitting percentage, second on the team behind
Brooke Lininger (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) who tallied a .438 percentage (eight kills).

Abbey Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) also finished with eight kills in the match on a .318 hitting percentage to go along with 1.5 blocks.

Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) notched 31 assists in the match, her sixth straight match with at least 30 and the 13th time this season.
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) paced the W&J defense with 12 digs and finished off three service aces.

The Presidents outhit the Barons in all three sets and had a team hitting percentage of .423 in the second set to record their third match of the season with a hitting percentage of .250 or better.

W&J will return to Presidents' Athletic Conference play in its next match as it travels to Thomas More on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1:00 p.m.
