Three Presidents score 20-plus points in 82-80 loss at Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Washington & Jefferson had the ball with under five seconds to play trailing by two points, but was unable to get off a shot in an 82-80 nonconference loss to Franciscan.

After Jonathan DeVito (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) knocked down a corner three-pointer with six seconds left, Nicholas Campalong (Sewickley, Pa./Ambridge) deflected the entry pass off of the Franciscan in-bounder to give possession back to the Presidents, who were unable to get a chance at a game-tying or winning shot.

Sean Stinelli (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) led all player with 23 points on the day, his second 20-plus point showing of the year and fifth double-digit scoring effort this season. He made four three-pointers and shot 8-of-16 from the field overall.

The senior duo of Brian Graytok (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) and Brian Lindquist (Narvon, Pa./Pequea Valley) each tallied 21 points, with Lindquist going 9-of-10 at the free-throw line and Graytok making 7-of-9 attempts. Lindquist also added nine rebounds and three assists, while Graytok chipped in a game-high six assists and five boards.

W&J shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the field for the game and forced the Barons into 17 turnovers, recording 12 steals.

The Presidents will be back in action at the Case Western Reserve Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament, opening up against Wells (N.Y.) at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29.
