WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team lost a nonconference contest to Wooster, 24-7, on Monday night, March 20.

The Fighting Scots scored six unanswered goals to open the game before Mark Mandak (Enola, Pa./Trinity) got the Presidents on the board with 3:45 remaining in the first quarter. After both teams exchanged a goal each, Wooster scored four in a row before Ben Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) answered, as the Presidents trailed 11-3.

After the teams again exchanged one goal each, the Fighting Scots went on an 11-1 run, including a 9-0 run at one point, to take control of the game at 23-5. Kyle Heinig (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and Ward scored the final two goals of the game, separated by the final Wooster goal, to round out the game scoring.

Heinig recorded his third hat trick of the season and second in the last three games while Ward (two goals, one assist) and Bryan Whipkey (Poland, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) (one goal, two assists) both totaled three points.

David Whipkey (Poland, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) scooped up a team-high six ground balls while Rocco Ruscitto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) picked up four. Eleven other Presidents each totaled multiple ground balls with four of those players getting three ground balls. Jake Bow (Newfane, N.Y./Newfane) led the Presidents' defense with two caused turnovers.

Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) (2-5) took the loss as the goalkeeper for W&J as he made a season-high 33 saves in the game, the second most saves in a game in NCAA Division III this year.
