BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson softball team was swept at Geneva, 7-6 in nine innings and 7-1, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader on Monday, April 10.

In the first game, the Presidents fell behind, 3-0, after surrendering three runs in the bottom of the first inning but got a run back in the top of the third when
Rachel Marx (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) scored on a single to center field from
Abby Cunningham (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township).

Cunningham plated two more runners in the top of the fifth with a double to center, scoring Marx and
Dana Parker (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour), to tie the game at 3-3. After Cunningham advanced to third on a ground out,
Taylor Andres (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) gave the Presidents the lead with an RBI single to center.

The Golden Tornadoes answered for three runs on five hits in the bottom of the inning to regain a two-run lead.
Meghan Staab (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) led off the top of the sixth inning with a single to left before Marx launched her second home run of the season to tie the game at six runs a side.

The Golden Tornadoes proceeded to win the game on a walk-off single to right in the bottom of the ninth.

After trailing 2-0 through two innings of the second game, Parker singled with two outs and proceeded to steal second base before Cunningham drove her home with a single to left.

Geneva tacked on five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to yield the final margin.
Â
Cunningham and Marx both finished with three hits between the two games with Cunningham driving in four runs while Marx plated two and scored three times. Parker and Staab both notched one hit each in both games.

The Presidents return to action on Thursday, April 13, for a home PAC twinbill against Chatham starting at 3:30 p.m.
