WASHINGTON, Pa. –
Ally Doty (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh of game two, giving the Washington & Jefferson softball team a doubleheader split after dropping the first game to Chatham, 2-0, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Thursday, April 13.

After surrendering two runs on two hits in the top of the sixth to fall behind 4-1, the Presidents began their comeback in the bottom half of the inning when
Danielle Kochka (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) singled to left with runners on first and second, scoring Doty. After
Meghan Staab (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) singled up the middle to load the bases,
Rachel Marx (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) reached on an error, allowing
Jamie Smith (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) on the play. Two batters later,
Abby Cunningham (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) drove in Staab with a two-out RBI single through the left side to tie the game.

Doty led off the bottom half of the seventh with a single through the ride side after
Taylor Andres (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) limited the Cougars to just one hit in the top of the inning. Doty advanced to second on a sac bunt and then advanced to third on a ground out. During the next at-bat, Doty raced to the plate on a wild pitch to score the game-winning run.

Trailing 2-0 through two and a half innings,
Brooke Lapia (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) put the Presidents on the board with an RBI single to right center to score
Dana Parker (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) with two outs.

In the first game of the twinbill, Chatham's Madison Howell limited the Presidents to three hits en route to a complete game shutout.

Cunningham and Smith notched three hits apiece between the two games with Cunningham driving in one run and Smith scoring once. Doty, Parker and Kochka each had one hit each in both games and combined to score three runs.

Andres received the win in game two as she pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs (four total) on eight hits with two strikeouts.
Kristen Fuertes (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) took the loss in the first game, pitching a complete game while allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

The Presidents will be back in action on Wednesday, April 19, when they travel to Grove City for a PAC doubleheader scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
