WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson softball team lost both games in five innings in its Sunday doubleheader to Thomas More, 10-0 in game one and 10-2 in game two, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Â
The Presidents scratched out two runs in game two thanks to a
Brooke Lapia (Oakdale, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) single to left-center field in the third inning, allowing
Dana Parker (Coraopolis, Pa. / Montour) and
Rachel Marx (Oakdale, Pa. / West Allegheny) to come across the plate.
Â
The W&J bats were kept quiet the rest of the afternoon, however, as the team managed to scatter three more hits in game two while being held to two hits and no runs in the first game.
Â
Ally Doty (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) led the Presidents with two hits on the day, one in each game, as Marx, Parker, Lapia,
Jamie Smith (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) and
Abby Cunningham (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township) all finished with one hit apiece.
Â
Kristen Fuertes (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester) was the losing pitcher in game one and
Taylor Andres (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) took the loss in the circle in game two.
Â
The Presidents will return to the field on Wednesday, April 26, when they host Thiel in a 3:30 p.m. PAC doubleheader.
