WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson was outscored 8-1 in the second quarter an was unable to overcome the deficit despite nine second-half goals in a 14-11 loss to Saint Vincent.
The loss lowers the Presidents to 3-9 on the season and 2-2 in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference. The Bearcats improve to 3-6 this year and 2-1 in the ORLC.
Mark Mandak (Enola, Pa./Trinity) got the Presidents on the board with 37 seconds remaining in the first quarter to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the visitors after one period.

Devon Curran (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), assisted by W&J career points leader
Kyle Heinig (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), at the 8:28-mark of the second quarter brought the score to 3-2, SVC scored seven straight times to take a 10-2 halftime lead.
W&J battled back with the first three goals of the third quarter to move the margin to 10-5.
Ben Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) scored twice within 1:42 off of assists by
Joseph Tritschler (New Kensington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) and Mandak before Mandak capped the run with 3:41 left in the quarter, 10-5.
Six goals in the fourth quarter brought W&J as close as 13-11 on a Curran unassisted tally at 5:50, but SVC tallied an insurance goal at 2:42 and held off the Presidents' rally for the 14-11 victory.
W&J took on extra shot, 35-34, while SVC landed two more on goal, 23-21. Each team picked up 39 ground balls.
Heinig, Mandak and Ward each recorded four points to lead W&J, with Curran adding three points and
Kyle MacKenzie (Manchester Center, Vt./Burr and Burton Seminary) adding a goal and an assist.
Rocco Ruscitto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) tied for the game high with six ground balls, and led all players by causing three turnovers. Tritschler and
David Whipkey (Poland, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) each snagged five ground balls in the loss.
Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) made nine saves in taking the defeat to fall to 3-8.
The Presidents continue ORLC play on Saturday, April 8 with a 1 p.m. match at Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio.
