PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team took care of La Roche in nonconference road action, sweeping the Redhawks by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-23.
The victory improves the Presidents to 5-6 ahead of a week off. W&J will not play again until traveling to Bethany for Presidents' Athletic Conference action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Julia Galbraith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) led the Presidents, and was the only player in the match to record double digits in kills, with 11 kills and six service aces. Her seven digs were also second on the team behind
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick), who posted a match-high 10.
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) and
Julia Bernesser (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) both were second on the team with five kills apiece, with Bernesser tallying three blocks to lead all players. Coughlin and
Katie Conner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) each totaled a pair of service aces as well on offense, and
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) dished out a game-high 23 assists.
