WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to No. 15 Carnegie Mellon on Friday, Sept. 22, in nonconference action.

With the loss, W&J moves to 3-3-1 overall on the season while the Tartans improve to 5-1-1.

The only goal of the game came in the 57th minute, as a volley into the penalty area opened up a pass to the middle of the box for a shot inside the right post.

Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) started at keeper for the Presidents and made four saves.

Josie Madden (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) led the team with two shots, one going on target.Â
Nicole Walters (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley),
Ashton Grimm (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville/Saint Francis (Pa.)) and
Shannon Salley (Irwin, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) tallied one shot apiece.

The Presidents will return to the pitch Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3:00 p.m. as they travel to Case Western Reserve for a nonconference showdown.
