WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's volleyball team defeated Westminster in five sets, 3-2, on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
The victory improves the Presidents to 6-7 on the season and 4-4 within the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Titans drop to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in league action.

In game one, the Presidents rallied to win 26-24, and then cruised to a 25-15 win in game two. After dropping games three and four by scores of 25-19, and 25-17, respectively, W&J rallied again in the fifth game to win 16-14 and take the match, with the final point coming on a block by
Morgan Jacques (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Science & Technology Academy) and Abby Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)).

Julia Bernesser (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) led the team with, a career high, 15 kills, followed by Jacques and
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) scoring 11 kills each, and Eich with 10 kills.
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) tallied 55 assists, surpassing her previous career high of 50.Â

Julia Galbraith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) headed the defense with 23 digs. O'Brien added 18 more while
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and Katie Connor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) earned 16 apiece. Mackenzie McConnell (Bessemer, Pa./Mohawk) also tallied a season high 14 digs. Eich's six blocks tied for the match high, while Jacques turned in five blocks and Lydic contributed four.
