PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- A 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-13) sweep of Chatham moved the Washington & Jefferson volleyball team to 5-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference and 7-7 overall this season.
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) matched her career high by turning in 17 kills on the afternoon, while also hitting at a .500 percentage. Lydic also had three blocks on the day, one of which was solo.
The trio of
Abbey Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)),
Julia Galbraith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) and
Morgan Jacques (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Science & Technology Academy) each posted seven kills, with Eich's .412 hitting percentage leading the group.
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) dished out 38 assists on the day and libero
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) record all three of W&J's service aces.
Defensively, Coughlin led the Presidents with 19 digs, with
Katie Conner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy), Galbraith and O'Brien each tallying nine. Eich and Jacques record two blocks apiece.
The match was initially scheduled to be part of a tri-match with Thiel, but the Thiel match was postponed to a later date earlier in the week. Once the new date is announced, it will be posted on the
W&J Volleyball schedule.
W&J returns home to host Bethany in PAC action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
