W&J draws in first match of season

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team ended its season opening match level at 1-1 for a draw against Ohio Wesleyan, Sept. 3.

The Battling Bishops got on the board first, scoring in the 37th minute on a shot from the right post. W&J answered in the 71st minute as Karli-Ann Sanders (Newcomerstown, Ohio/New Philadelphia) passed back to the 25, feeding Jordan Toohey (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant/Saint Francis (Pa.)) who sent the ball to the left-hand side of the net. The goal is Toohey's 49th of her career.

W&J had 19 shots on the day, including seven from Toohey and five from Tatiana Ruzzini (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), each putting three on goal.

Allison Rinehimer (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) was the starting keeper for W&J, picking up one save.
