GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Presidents closed out the Presidents' Athletic Conference dual match portion of the 2017-18 season by dropping a 34-19 decision at Thiel.

With the loss, Washington & Jefferson falls to 4-6 in dual matches this year and 0-3 in the league. W&J will return to the mat at the Penn State Fayette quad on Sunday, Jan. 21, beginning at 12 p.m.

Due to W&J forfeits at 125 and 133, the wrestling action started at 141 pounds where Mike Heinl (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) secured an 11-0 major decision against Vincent Mion. The Presidents were dealt a defeat at 149 and then rattled off three-straight bonus point victories at 157, 165 and 174.

Lawrence Schrott (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) pinned Angelo Nunnari in 2:44 at 157, Sam Florentino (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) collected a 13-3 major decision against Cam Cianci at 165 and Jared Walker (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) earned a 21-5 technical fall over John Sims at 174.

The final three contested bouts of the evening went to the Tomcats as the hosts pulled away for the 34-19 victory.
