WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team defeated Geneva, 79-41, in Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 20.

With the win, the Presidents advance to 15-2 on the season, with a 9-1 conference tally while the Golden Tornadoes fall to 4-13 and 1-9 in the PAC. The victory also gives W&J the regular season sweep of conference rival Geneva for the sixth straight season.

Six different Presidents scored in the first quarter to give W&J a 21-6 lead heading into the second.
Lauren Gilbert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) tallied four three-pointers in the second period and helped the Presidents to a 47-20 lead at the halftime break. W&J then outscored Geneva 32-21 in the second half, led by the freshman duo of
Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) and
Hannah Johnston (East Freedom, Pa./Central) with nine and six points, respectively.

Gilbert led all players with 17 points, including five-of-six from beyond-the-arc.
Amirah Moore (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) and Seto followed with 13 points apiece to round out the double-digit scorers.

The Presidents held a 45-31 advantage in rebounds, led by
Maria Lawhorne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) with a season-high nine rebounds.
Mya Gordon (Washington, Pa./Washington) and
Nicole Ricketts (Montgomery Village, Md./St. John's Catholic Prep) tallied five each. W&J also earned 15 steals off 23 Geneva turnovers.
Mia Woytovich (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) grabbed five steals, followed by
Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) with three and two from both Gilbert and
Megan Williams (Bay Village, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy).

W&J will return to the court on Wed., Jan. 24, as it travels to Saint Vincent for a PAC showdown. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
