WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson women's soccer came inches away from tying Geneva late in the second half of the two team's PAC match on Friday of W&J's Homecoming Weekend, but a questionable late offside call sealed a 1-0 victory for the Golden Tornadoes.Â
The loss drops the Presidents to 5-7-2 overall this season and 2-2-0 in the conference, while Geneva improves to 7-7-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the PAC.Â
The offside call that sealed W&J's fate came with less than two minutes left in tonight's contest.
Katie Hahn (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) received a pass in the middle of the box and turned to beat the opposing keeper high. For a few seconds, the Presidents and their fans celebrated as if the match was now tied at 1-all, until everyone saw that the linesman had his flag up to nullify the score.Â
Despite taking the setback, the Red & Black outshot the Golden Tornadoes by a 13-10 margin. Both teams finished tied with six saves.Â
Hahn led all players with four shots in the bout, while
Caitlin Drahushak (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) finished second on the team with two, both of which were on goal.Â
Freshman
Shayla Watkins (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Presidents and recorded six saves.Â
W&J returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 17, for a road PAC bout against Saint Vincent at 4 p.m.Â
