Presidents earn sixth win, top Penn State Behrend, 11-9

How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team avenged its loss to Penn State Behrend in the third-place game of the CWPA DIII Eastern Championship by defeating the Lions by an 11-9 final score on Thursday, Oct. 18. 
 
Top Performer: Will Kitsch (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Troy Smith (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos) paced the Presidents with three goals apiece. 

The Rest: No other W&J player scored more than one goal in the match, with Cam Spicer (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing), Ethan Moy (New York, N.Y./The High School for Math, Science & Engineering), Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), and Robert Koch (Worcester, Pa./La Salle College) each finding the back of the net once. Nick Spehar (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) started in goal for the Red & Black and made 10 saves to earn his sixth win of 2018. Spehar also came out of his net to score a goal in the match. 

What's next: The Presidents will next travel Lebanon, Ill., for a trio of matches, beginning with a 12 p.m. tilt against McKendree on Saturday, Oct. 27.
