OBERLIN, Ohio -- Freshman goalkeeper
Shayla Watkins (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) made 15 saves in Washington & Jefferson women's soccer's 0-0 double-overtime draw against Oberlin on Tuesday, Oct 2.Â
Watkins was busy in her 110 minutes, as she made four saves in both the first half and in the second overtime, in addition to making five stops in the second half. The 15 saves tonight are a season high for the rookie, and it marked a season high for a W&J keeper in 2018. Tonight's game is the first for Watkins that she has not allowed a goal in at least 90 minutes of action.Â
Offensively, the Presidents logged 10 shots, four of which were on goal. The Red & Black also finished tied with the Yeowomen with four corner kicks in the contest.Â
Brianna Floryshak (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) paced the Presidents with three shots in tonight's bout, while
Marcy Saldivar (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk),
Katie Hahn (Volant, Pa./Wilmington), and
Samantha Fields (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) each logged two shots apiece.Â
The Red & Black will return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 5, for a road PAC bout against Grove City at 4 p.m.
