NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The No. 7/11 Washington & Jefferson football team was unable to recover from a slow start as it saw its 20-game regular season winning streak snapped with a 27-20 loss at Westminster.

After falling behind by a 20-7 margin at halftime, the Presidents were able to get the score knotted at 20-20 by the end of the third quarter.

Sophomore running back
EJ Thompson (La Plata, Md./Thomas Stone) scored from 13 yards out on fourth down at the 5:24-mark of the period to bring it within 20-13 after the point-after try failed. The game was tied with 55 seconds to play in the quarter when junior quarterback
Jacob Adams (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) hit sophomore wide receiver
Andrew Wolf (Ashland, Ohio/Hillsdale) on a fade route in the back corner of the end zone, 20-19. Senior kicker
Josh Hnat (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) made the extra point and it was 20-20 through 45 minutes.

The final score of the game came at the 10:49-mark of the fourth quarter on a three-yard rush.

W&J initially scored in the first half on a 71-yard interception return by senior safety
Zac Quattrone (White Oak, Pa./Serra Catholic), his second 71-yard pick six of the season. That play, with 5:08 left in the first quarter tied the score at 7-7.

After being held to just 20 yards of total offense in the first half, the Presidents finished with 179 yards on 65 plays.

Junior running back
Jordan West (Washington, Pa./Washington) carried 16 times for 57 yards, while Thompson picked up 48 yards on 11 rushes. Adams completed 20-of-33 passes for 106 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Wolf had eight catches for 50 yards and his nation-leading 17th score of the season, tied for the third most in a season for W&J.

Junior defensive lineman
Jeffrey Oxner (Silver Spring, Md./Bullis School) tied for the game high with 10 tackles (seven solo), including a career-high 4.5 for loss, plus added a sack. Senior linebacker
Cody Milsom (Butler, Pa./Knoch) added nine tackles (eight solo) and 2.0 TFL. Junior defensive lineman
Mike Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Langley) registered a career-best nine tackles and senior safety
Zach Royba (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) made eight tackles, all solo, and a season high.

After eight-straight games to open the season, W&J will be idle next weekend before completing the final two weeks of the regular season on the road, beginning at Saint Vincent on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. The Presidents will enter the bye week with an overall record of 7-1 and 6-1 mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
