Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

W&J clinches postseason berth with 3-0 victory over Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- With a pair of goals, Paul Mokrzan (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) guided the Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Waynesburg on Saturday, Oct. 27, to conclude the 2018 regular season, sealing a spot for the Presidents in the PAC Tournament.

The win gives W&J a 6-9-1 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the PAC. With 12 league points, the Red & Black clinched the four-seed in the conference tournament. Waynesburg, on the other hand, end the year with a 5-10-1 overall record and a 2-4-1 mark in the PAC.

Mokrzan began his stellar day by putting the Presidents up 1-0 in the 10th minute. The senior took a crack from 15 yards out and found the top right corner of goal for his first tally of the day.

Mokrzan's second score came at the 32nd minute on a free kick. The midfielder set up the kick from 25 yards out and launched the ball past the opposing keeper. Today's match is Mokrzan's second career multi-goal game. He is now tied for the team lead in goals with three.

Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) capped off W&J's win with an unassisted goal in the 65th minute. Prezioso made a move in the box and beat the keeper to the back right corner. The goal is the first of Prezioso's junior campaign.

The Presidents outshot the Yellow Jackets by a 19-18 margin. Mokrzan paced all players with seven shots in the contest, while Connor Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore) logged three to finish second on W&J.

Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) saved all seven shots on goal that he faced to pick up the win. Today's shutout is Stasko's third of 2018.

The Presidents will begin postseason play with a road matchup against the top-seeded Wolverines of Grove City. The semifinal game will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30, and the starting time has yet to be determined.
