Parker reaches 1,000 career points in loss at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio – Washington & Jefferson senior forward Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) became the 18th 1,000-point scorer in program history as the Presidents dropped a 72-54 nonconference road game at Baldwin Wallace.

Parker entered play needing just five points and got there when she hit a three-pointer with 6:41 remaining in the third quarter to land exactly on 1,000 points. For the game, the senior finished with eight points, nine rebounds and two assists.

W&J started slow on the afternoon, trailing by scores of 14-8 and 43-18 after the first and second quarters, respectively. The Presidents cut into the margin with an 18-11 advantage in the third period, but an even fourth quarter at 18-18 gave the Yellow Jackets the win.

Sophomore Lauren Gilbert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led W&J with 13 points and three assists in the loss, while classmate Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) added 11 points and four boards. Freshman Aleena McDaniel (Morgantown, W. Va./Morgantown) contributed nine points and four boards, while fellow rookie Izzy Allen scored six points and matched her season high with eight rebounds.

W&J drops to 2-4 on the year ahead of the 2018-19 Presidents' Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Henry Memorial Center against Saint Vincent. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
