Men's Water Polo

W&J concludes season at MAWPC-West Championship

Where: Hallman Aquatics Center – Erie, Pa.
Opponent: McKendree
Result: L, 8-18
 
How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team opened its weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Championship with an 18-8 loss to McKendree.
 
Top Performer: Troy Smith (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos) and Dustin Reinke (Fresno, Calif./Buchanan) led the team with two goals apiece. 

The Rest: Dylan Gwinn (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph), Nick Spehar (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), Jason Wright (St. Louis, Mo./Linderbegh), and Tyler Francis (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) all scored a goal in the match. Francis and Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) both saw time in goal for the Red & Black, both making two saves.

Result: W, 21-9
 
How it Happened: The Presidents bounced back against Monmouth (Ill.), topping the Scots by a 21-9 final score, the team's highest scoring output of the season.  
 
Top Performer: Reinke led all players with six goals in the win. 
 
The Rest: Cam Spicer (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) netted five goals to finish second on the team, while Smith finished third with three. Geister and Robert Koch (Worcester, Pa./La Salle College) rounded out W&J's multi-goal scorers with two. David Boyer (York, Pa./Central York) started in goal for the Presidents and made 10 saves in the victory.

Where: Hallman Aquatics Center – Erie, Pa.
Opponent: Connecticut College
Result: L, 13-14 (OT)
 
How it Happened: The Presidents fell in overtime of the fifth-place game of the 2018 MAWPC-West Championship to Connecticut College by a 14-13 final score. With a sixth-place showing, W&J improved one spot from its finish at this event last season. 
 
Top Performer: Reinke continued his outstanding weekend by scoring six goals against the Camels. 
 
The Rest: Geister ended the game next on the team with four goals, while Will Kitsch (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) found the back of the net three times. Both Boyer and Francis saw time in goal for W&J, with Boyer making six saves and Francis recording five.
