WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's basketball team was unable to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit in its season-opening setback to Franciscan, 81-68, on Friday, Nov. 9.Â
The Presidents were led in tonight's matchup by sophomore guard
Cameron Seemann (Loveland, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller), who scored a career-high 14 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
Sean Stinelli (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) was next on the team with 11 points.Â
Nicholas Campalong (Sewickley, Pa./Ambridge) rounded out W&J's double-digit scorers with 10 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Zach Queen (Jeannette, Pa./Hempfield Area) helped the Red & Black on both ends of the court, as he logged six points to go along with a team-high three steals.Â
The Barons built their early lead with hot shooting, as they went 15-for-32 (46.9 percent) from the field in the first half. W&J on the other hand shot 7-for-21 (33.3 percent). This allowed Franciscan to build a 35-25 advantage going into the break, one that would not dip below eight in the second half.Â
Besides the two team's field-goal percentages, the game was very close. Both teams made 18 free throws and they both shot an identical 38.5 percent from behind the three-point arc.Â
W&J returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 13, when it heads to Greensburg, Pa. for a 7 p.m. tilt against Pitt-Greensburg. Â
