NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team led by a 9-0 score through 30 minutes and never looked back in a 15-5 nonconference win at Muskingum.
With the victory, the Presidents win consecutive games and have now won three of their last four heading into the 11-match Ohio River Lacrosse Conference schedule which begins on Wednesday, March 28 at home against Saint Vincent at 6 p.m. It will be a rematch of the last two league championship tilts.
Three players from W&J accounted for all nine first-half goals as
Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) scored four times,
Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) found the back of the net three times and
Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added a pair of scores.
LaRochelle went on to finish the match with six goals, matching her career high, while recording her 17th career hat trick and also securing seven draw controls. With her seven points on the evening, the sophomore became the ninth W&J women's lacrosse player to reach the 100-point plateau for her career.
Kallos collected four scores to total her 33rd hat trick, plus an assist, four ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. Miller's three goals were a career high and the first hat trick of her time in red & black.
The remaining two goals for the Presidents came off the crosses of
Kayla Boulas (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) and
Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast).
Carli Hopkin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) forced three turnovers and
Allison Onslow (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) knocked away two turnovers and picked up a trio of ground balls.
Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J Roberts) tied for the game high with four ground balls in goal and also turned away seven shots in the victory, her third of the season and fifth of her career.
