LEXINGTON, Ky. -- In a rematch from the last two Ohio River Lacrosse Conference tournaments, Transylvania handed the Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team a 12-4 defeat.
The loss drops the Presidents to 5-8 overall, while moving their ORLC mark to 4-2. The Pioneers raise their records to 8-6 and 7-1, respectively.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) topped 20 saves for the seventh time in his career, turning Transylvania away 27 times. It marks the second highest single-game total of his nearly two seasons in the Red & Black after making 33 as a freshman against Wooster. His 442 career saves in 30 matches are already the third most in program history.
Patrick Brunner (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) scored two goals on the afternoon, while
Ben Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and
Rocco Ruscitto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) each found the back of the net once.
Joseph Tritschler (New Kensington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) led the team with four ground balls, with
Shawn Wallbillich (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and
Michael Aaron Pray III (Gaithersburg, Md./Maret School (D.C.)) each scooped three ground balls. Pray also won 8-of-18 face-offs he took.
W&J will welcome Thiel to Alexandre Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. ORLC match on Wednesday, April 18.
